Does Tiger Woods Have a Right to Privacy?

In the continuing drama over his car accident last week, Tiger Woods released a statement on Wednesday apologizing to his family and supporters after a magazine article reported that he had carried on multiple affairs.
In his statement, he said:
No matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don’t share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one’s own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn’t have to mean public confessions.
But in the age of the Internet, when the media is not just traditional mainstream press or even the tabloids, but bloggers and twitterers, is a claim of privacy even possible? And is there a difference between a public figure and a well-known figure when it comes to privacy?

  1. i believe tiger woods is right he should not be stalked and punished by the media because he is a person just like us and everyone deserves privacy even though he is a public celeberty. and if you were to make a mistake you wouldnt want it to be on the news everyday humiliated and made a joke of its wronge.

  2. No, there is not a difference. I believe that he has a right to get all the privacy he wants. It's not really a big deal that he wrecked into a tree. Since he is well-knowned he should get the privacy that he wants to have. . It can probably get real annoying at times.

  3. I think he should have his privacy even though he is famous. If you or i were famous im 100% sure you would want your own privacy. Why the public would even care what he does in his own time gets by me... But i dont understand what makes people think it is okay to just follow someone around and invaid their personal space. Most for the money, but others makes a hobbie out of it.
There for yeah i do think he should get his own privacy because he is a person too

  4. I think that if Tiger Woods is going to be a bad influencs then it should be told. And if he make a ton of money a year for being in public and everything else he needs to suck it up. All the other famouse people dont get to pick what part of their private life goes public so he should just suck it up!

  6. i think they need to leave his personal life alone, and just focus on the golfing part of his life. You wouldnt here about that person cheating on this person on the news unless there famous and i think that is absolutely rediculous. Just because Tiger Woods is a good golfer doesnt mean they should spill out what he did. Like it's his life not the whole worlds. Dont get me wrong what he did was selfesh and cruel, but the news and everyone needs to let him be.

  7. i think that what has happened with tiger was bad on his part.if this is true then his whole situation will be talked about for at least a good month.plus the sports world will have be talking about this and not really focus on anything else.

  8. I think that everyone deserves privacy! (Even if they are famous)! I know even if I did something bad I don’t want people butting in and making it worse than it already is. Yes he did badly but what will they say next about him. This can cause stress and harm to him or someone else.
